A peculiar quilt

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

Over at the ferret blog you can catch a glimps of a 100% polyester quilt made by my Great-Grandmother MayMay (we called her Grandma Cookie) sometime before her death in 2001 or so. I remember a similar quilt gracing the bed of my childhood babysitter Mrs. Bell, who made hers from the scraps of her dresses.

However peculiar in appearance, it’s a lovely reminder of two very influential women in my life.

It’s also super warm and will last for many generations, which I think is really at the heart of quilting.
